GENESEO, N.Y. - The Lamron has launched a revamped version of its Web site. The site, which resides on www.TheLamron.com, is aimed at increasing readership and providing campus community members with an alternative to The Lamron's print edition for a source of campus news.
"I think with the growing trend of students getting their news from online sources, the Web site will heighten The Lamron's visibility and appeal," said Managing Editor Jessica Francis.
The Web site will feature most of the content found in the print edition, including the News, Opinion, Features, Arts & Entertainment, and Sports sections. The site requires free registration in order to view articles. A benefit of registration is the e-mail edition of the paper, which is sent out to all registered users when a new issue is posted. The e-mail will contain article leads as well as links to the main site.
The site contains several new features which will be of interest to users. There is an events calendar on the site, links to world and national news, as well as technology, sports and financial news. The Web site also features interactive polls. The site also contains information about advertising in the paper, and links to several sites of interest to Geneseo students. As future issues are posted, articles will be archived and will be available for users to search for.
The site is hosted by College Publisher, a Web site company that works with hundreds of college newspapers around the country. The company assists in helping to build and maintain the Web site, and places national advertising on the site.
Editor in Chief Jacob Kriss said, "This Web site is a huge development for the paper, as well as for campus community members. It is an excellent resource for everyone, and we are extremely excited at the prospects this new realm of electronic publishing holds."
