IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. - Medley Center Mall owner Adam Bersin said on Wednesday that the mall will be sold to Scott Congel of the Syracuse-based Pyramid Company. Since the mall was bought by Bersin, it has seen the addition of Target and Steve and Barry's, but the new businesses were not enough. With Bon-Ton leaving the center, business activity has been very slow.
Bersin said that, "The purpose of the sale is to realize the potential of the property on a faster time line than I would have been able to do myself." Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks was very supportive of the decision and believes that the change could allow the area to reach a better potential.
Plans for the mall include creating a property with apartments, entertainment and recreation facilities. The purchase of the site by Pyramid, which owns many malls across that state, indicates that the area definitely has potential to become very popular in the future.
