For the first time since November 2003, Third Eye Blind will return to Western New York, this time to play a show at Geneseo. The show will take place in Kuhl Gymnasium on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 8 p.m.
For those who spent the 1990s under a rock, Third Eye Blind is an alternative-rock band from the San Francisco Bay area. The group released their first demo back in 1993, but it was not until 1996 that they started gaining larger recognition.
After landing an opening gig for Oasis, they released their first album, Third Eye Blind, in 1997. Their fame climbed high after the release of five singles from the album, including radio staples and fan favorites like "Jumper," "Semi-Charmed Life" and "How's it Going to Be."
While Third Eye Blind does remain their most successful album to date, the two following albums fared well, although they did not achieve the mass success of the debut. Blue (1999) and Out of the Vein (2003) were not able to get any Top 10 songs as Third Eye Blind did, but the band's energy and catchiness never faded. They also enjoyed moderate success with release of a greatest hits compilation, A Collection, in July 2006.
Now, in 2007, Third Eye Blind has been touring extensively in support of their fourth studio album, The Hideous Strength, to be released in 2008.
After an online poll conducted by Activities Commission with nearly 1,900 responses, Third Eye Blind was the major favorite by far. Tickets are sure to sell fast: $15 for students with their SUNY IDs, $18 for faculty, staff and alumni, and $22 for the general public.
Tickets for students are already on sale to students at the SA Ticket office in the College Union, and they will go on sale to the public on Saturday, Oct. 20.
