Volleyball disappoints at RIT

The women's volleyball team continued its rocky start last weekend at the Rochester Institute of Technology Invitational, finishing last out of 12 teams despite spirited, competitive play.

On Friday, the team hoped to avenge earlier losses in their rematches against New York University and St. John Fisher. Alas, the Lady Knights fell short in each attempt, losing in three games to NYU before running out of gas in an epic five-game battle against St. John Fisher.

Saturday's action was as passionate and fruitless as Friday's. In the day's opener against the Rochester Spikers, the Lady Knights fell in four tightly contested sets, 25-18, 25-20, 20-25, 25-22. In the afternoon match against Brockport, Geneseo came roaring out of the gates, destroying the Golden Eagles 25-11. The win proved to be anomalous, however, as Brockport won the next two games en route to a crushing five-game victory.

With the losses, Geneseo drops to 1-9 on the season. The team looks to regroup in SUNYAC pool play at Oswego this weekend, before taking on Ithaca College at home next Tuesday.
