Junior Jeremy Frank has made a substantial impact on Geneseo during his three years here. But what makes Frank, originally from Port Washington, N.Y., so memorable?
"I'm funny, I'm a character," he said. "I keep it interesting."
Frank is a creative writing major and geography minor, displaying interest in both creative and scientific fields. According to Frank, "Because I wasn't unemployable enough as an English major, I added geography."
Frank currently works as a freelance children's author for Speakaboos.com. "I've always been a writer," he said.
"It started as updated versions of public domain stories," said Frank of his work for the Web site. Now, he follows the adventures of one character who he describes as, "a mix of Arthur the aardvark and Calvin from 'Calvin and Hobbes.'"
Aside from his writing, Frank devotes the majority of his time between two organizations: Geneseo Student Television and Men of Action and Change.
Frank can often be found in the GSTV office, working on projects for the station as the group's webmaster and producer of a new show on the station.
"GSTV took me in my first semester like I was family," said Frank. "They're a very warm group of people. They've opened up opportunities for me that I didn't think I could do."
According to Frank, his involvement with MAC allows him to give back to others and bond with the other members. Frank joined the organization last fall. As co-outreach coordinator for the organization, Frank can "do good for the community, and the world."
Frank has also traveled beyond Geneseo for his studies. Last spring, Frank attended the National University of Ireland in Maynooth.
"I learned to speak in an Irish brogue and spent many a night at the pub," Frank said of his experience overseas.
After college, Frank plans to go on to graduate school and continue his writing. Frank hopes to put his experience here to use in a career.
"I'd really like to be a screenwriter and write comedy for TV," he said.
When he has a spare moment, Frank watches television to get inspiration and has also taught himself how to juggle.
With his involvement in a number of activities on and off campus, Frank keeps his college experience interesting. Frank's life motto as he simply stated is, "Good. Bad. Anything beats boring."
