Sophomore Lindsay Matthews has died from injuries related to Wednesday's accident, said an e-mail sent out to the campus community by Dean of Students Lenny Sancilio.
Matthews was hit by a truck on Wednesday while walking along Route 63 adjacent to the Geneseo campus. She was immediately transported to Strong Memorial Hospital, where she remained in critical condition until her death earlier today.
A communicative sciences and disorders major, Matthews was an active member of the community, most notably as a member of the women's Blue Knights soccer team where she was a starting defender. She had also received the bronze leadership certificate from the GOLD program and was inducted into the Phi Eta Sigma honor society on Oct. 16.
Matthews was from Orchard Park, where she is survived by her parents and two brothers. According to Sancilio's e-mail, her family decided to donate several of her organs to patients in need.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been made, but Sancilio will provide information via e-mail as it becomes available.
