The director of health and counseling position is currently vacant, due to the resignation of Heidi Levine, who accepted a job as dean of students at Cornell University in Mount Vernon, Iowa.
Robert Bonfiglio, vice president of the Division for Student and Campus Life, said there are four applicants seeking to take on the new vacancy.
According to a CollegeNews e-mail sent out Nov. 17, three of the candidates include Donna Willome, Dr. Susan Roxin and current acting director Dr. Steve Radi.
Search committee chair Tamara Kenny and student representatives will convene next week and make a recommendation for the position from among the four applicants.
According to Bonfiglio, the position "is not solely an administrative job." The search committee is therefore looking for a professional with experience in administration as well as dealing directly with patients. All four applicants have backgrounds in medical care, counseling or both.
Specific administrative duties of the new director include supervising all the nurses, medical professionals and psychologists, as well as ensuring the best quality of care possible to patients.
The Accrediting Association for Ambulatory Healthcare accredits the Lauderdale Center for Health and Counseling; it will be the job of the new director to ensure that the Lauderdale Center maintains the standards of the association.
"Hopefully, we'll have a new director by the start of next semester," said Bonfiglio.
