The Greek community is a dominant part of student life at Geneseo. With recruitment underway, it's important to take a closer look at the eight fraternities and 12 sororities recognized by the college. Though each individual organization is based upon separate beliefs and ideals, all are essential in creating the society they proudly represent. The Alpha Chi Rho Fraternity, also known as "Crows," is a national fraternity whose members are guided in their intellectual, moral and social development by four landmarks of ideal brotherhood. Informal rush was held on Sept. 6, and formal rush will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 94 Court St.
Sigma Kappa, or "the Kappas" reside at 86 Court St. We are one of the three national sororities on campus. We have 42 members and are extremely excited for our fall recruitment. We held an event on Tuesday Sept. 8 and are holding another event Thursday, Sept. 17 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. for some coffee and dessert. Lambda Pi Upsilon Sorority, Latinas Poderosas Unidas Incorporated also known as "The Lambda Divas" or "LPiU" is a young and prominent multicultural sorority geared toward female empowerment, community service and strong sisterhood. Founded November 6, 1992 in SUNY Geneseo, this national sorority has grown with over 11 chapters and 3 colonies all over the United States. Sigma Tau Psi is a local fraternity residing at 27 Orchard Street. With a 46-year history, Sig Tau is founded on the principles of campus involvement, leadership, and excellence. We pride ourselves on closeness, academics, diversity, successful intramural sports teams, community service, and friendship within the brotherhood. Delta Phi Epsilon is a national sorority located on 76 Court St. Our principles are justice, sisterhood, and love. We "Deephers" are looking forward to meeting girls at upcoming events: Dinner at Letchworth Dining Hall on Sept. 11 at 6 p.m., and coffee at Muddy Waters on Sept. 12 at 4 p.m.
Sigma Nu Chi or "Sig Nu" is a local fraternity that was founded in 1985 as a non-physical-hazing fraternity. Based off of the values of Sigma Nu national fraternity, our cardinal principles are Love, Truth, Honor, Pride, Respect and Responsibility. Delta Kappa Tau was established in 1871 and is the college's oldest fraternity. Our brotherhood of men has ambition both inside and outside of the classroom. Every day we continue to earn our good standing within the community and excel academically.
Phi Eta Psi. Our sorority was founded in the fall of 1994, because of our uniqueness and desire to form a sorority that could benefit the community. We firmly believe that an organization should inspire the young women within it. The Phetas are comprised of women who are active on-campus and off, and who have close friends within and outside the organization. The Pheta sisters encourage all those who are interested to come and hang out with us and see what true sisterhood is all about. Our current sisters reside at 15 Ward Place.
Phi Lambda Chi, better known as "Phi Lamb," has been an active member of the Geneseo college community since 1964. It is one of the first local sororities to be formed at the college, and has been a presence at 24 Wadsworth St. since its inception. We are a great group of girls who love to have fun and can't wait to meet you at our rush events!
Alpha Omega Pi. Living at 7 University Ave., we are a close group of girls who, despite a variety of different backgrounds, pride ourselves on sisterhood forever. We recently held a soldier relief event, and on Sept. 9 held a gourmet dinner catered by the sisters.

The fraternity Phi Sigma Xi, or "Phigs," is located at 72 Center St. We will be holding Informal Rush on Sept. 12, followed by Formal Rush Sept. 13. Come and meet the brothers, take a tour of the Phi Sig Manor, and experience one of Geneseo's oldest fraternities!
Zeta Beta Xi, or "ZBXi," was founded in the Fall of 1993 on the principles of intellectual awareness, social responsibility and integrity. ZBXis are known for having a good time, but being serious about school. Those looking to meet the brothers of ZBXi can find us on campus and around the Geneseo community, as well as at our house on 15 Orchard St. We will be holding an informal rush event at our house this Friday, Sept. 11.
Sigma Delta Tau is a national sorority connected to over 90 campuses across the U.S. and Canada. Located on 14 Wadsworth St., we pride ourselves on being different from other sororities based on our unique, diverse group of 58 sisters. Come to our house on Sept. 12 from 12-3 p.m. for a BBQ and Tie-Dye event to further understand how the smallest decision can change your life forever.
