Students Educating About Ableism, the disability advocacy group at Geneseo, is hosting a variety of events April 4-7 to commemorate Disability Awareness Week.
Sophomore Olivia Derella, SEAA president, said that Disability Week is intended to promote awareness and that the organization is excited to be hosting a week filled with events aimed at spreading knowledge about their cause.
"The main intent is to be a voice and advocate for the disabled community … as well as to try to promote awareness on campus," Derella said.
SEAA is now a part of the Alliance for Community Enrichment, a group that Derella said "has helped [SEAA] find support." The organization hopes that the week's events will yield a good turnout and inspire awareness in members of the Geneseo community.
