UAA jumpstarts Traditions Challenge with Blue & White Day

On Friday, the Undergraduate Alumni Association transformed Geneseo's annual Blue & White Day into an event that inspired some real pride amongst the student community.  UAA served popcorn and aptly colored blue punch, and Campus Auxiliary Services offered some additional delicious treats on the College Green, right outside the Integrated Science Center.

Students clad in all shades of blue and white were awarded beach balls when they correctly answered trivia about Geneseo's rich history.  Live music permeated the academic quad as well, giving students a well-needed stress-reliever after a long first week of classes.

"I thought it was a successful kick-off event for UAA's revamped Traditions Challenge," said senior Steve Korchynsky, president of the organization. Conceived last spring semester, the Traditions Challenge prompts Geneseo students to complete a list of events and ‘traditions' that are unique to the college. To participate in the challenge, UAA asks students to register on their website www.geneseo.edu/uaa and then upload pictures of themselves completing the traditions to the UAA-Geneseo Facebook page.

The traditions are separated into categories, including Athletic Events, Geneseo Traditions, Academic Traditions, Music/Theater/Art, Multi-Cultural Events, Greek Life, Alumni Networking and Campus Living. To complete the challenge, students only have to attend a certain amount, but the club encourages them to try all of them.

There is a comprehensive list of all the traditions on the UAA website, as well as their Facebook page, so if this is something you are interested in doing, check it out and take the challenge! Chances are you've already completed some traditions without even knowing it.
