The brothers of Delta Kappa Tau and sisters of Alpha Delta Epsilon returned to their alma mater this summer for Reunion 2011.
Both organizations celebrated milestone anniversaries, showing their long lineage and strong heritage of tradition. Delta Kappa Tau honored its 140th year anniversary, while Alpha Delta Epsilon marked its 125th. The reunion took place from July 8 – 10 with Greek alumni ranging from the class of 1950 to 2011 attending the event. Summer Reunion 2011 also featured class reunions, a residence hall reunion and a library science reunion. In total, Reunion 2011 hosted over 900 alumni and guests.
Many of the returning graduates were housed in Erie and Steuben Halls, where they could relive their college experience. The McClellan House, which houses the Office of Alumni Relations at 26 Main St., was used to host some of the reunion events for ADE sorority. ADE memorabilia and photographs covered the walls inside the McClellan House. Purple and white – the sorority's signature colors – were ubiquitous around the building, evident from the banner hanging on the verandah of McClellan to the shirts of many sisters, proudly adorned with their Greek organization's letters.
The weekend consisted of many other festivities including the DK Welcome Reception at the Big Tree Inn and the "Tent on the Green," for which alumni gathered on the College Green for an afternoon of reminiscing.
"It was wonderful to see that all of the alumni knew each other in each organization despite the widely differing ages," said Tracy Gagnier, assistant director of alumni relations.
In recent years, the Office of Alumni Relations has gained momentum in linking up alumni from around the country, and the Summer Reunion 2011 was yet another successful example of their efforts. Not only has the team striven to reunite members of the Greek organizations, but has also extended its scope by reaching out to other student associations, such as athletics, drama and dance alumni.
