On Saturday March 24, something magical happened on Onondaga Field.
“One Knight Stands,” Geneseo’s own Quidditch team, hosted their first annual tournament: The Knight Cup.
Seven teams participated in total, with representatives from Geneseo, the University of Rochester, SUNY Cortland, Syracuse University, SUNY Fredonia, Edinboro University from Pennsylvania and Ive’s Pond Quidditch Club from Buffalo, N.Y.
Ive’s Pond, a collection of students from Buffalo, stunned second-place Geneseo in a 50-20 victory to claim the championship title.
“[The tournament] is organized well,” said Nick Kelly, a member of the Buffalo team. “All of the players are very friendly here. Everyone’s having a good time.”
Members of the Geneseo team said that they plan on making the tournament an annual event in the future.
