The men's lacrosse team split a pair of games, moving to 3-2 on the season.
Clarkson University broke the Knights' two-game winning streak on Saturday March 16 with a 9-3 victory.
Clarkson opened the game with a 5-0 run until Geneseo sophomore attack Sam Thompson scored his first goal with less than six minutes remaining in the second period. A minute and a half later, Thompson added his second goal to make it a 5-2 game - the closest margin the Knights saw.
Clarkson went on another 3-0 run until Geneseo freshman midfielder Jordan Briceland added the Knights' third goal with 13:41 left in the fourth period.
Clarkson senior attack Matt McCabe notched his third goal of the game to close the scoring.
Senior Michael Greubel and junior Ryan Zaremba split time in goal, recording seven and 10 saves, respectively.
On Thursday March 21, Geneseo rebounded from the loss and pounded New England College in a 21-7 win.
Thompson led again, scoring five goals for the Knights. Thompson's goals increased his season total to 13 - the team's highest.
Sophomore Steve Cregan added four goals and four assists and classmate Andre Keating tallied three goals. Sophomore trio Steve Aziz, Brent Lawless and Cory Gleasman contributed two apiece.
Junior Adam Perri joined Greubel and Zaremba in goal, saving three shots in the final 15 minutes. Zaremba started in goal for the Knights, allowing three of four shots in 35:12 in goal. Greubel relieved Zaremba in the third period, allowing two goals.
The men's lacrosse team faces St. Lawrence University at 4 p.m. Tuesday March 26 for its home opener.
