Humans of Geneseo

Education major sophomore Aidan Aman humorously describes a recent experience when he had to student teach and work on a dairy farm, and how he had to change roles every day for each job position (Leila Sassouni / knights’ life editor).

“Well, when I first got here, I was very eager to try to find a job, somewhere around this area. So, I naturally went online and looked online for a job and I found an ad on Craig’s List that was an offer for a farmhand who’s working for a [dairy farm] over on a place called Anderson Farm in Avon. So, I went there, and I started working, and then I found out through my student teaching program that I’m part of, that I also have to go to Avon—Avon Central School. So, I had this set up where I would go to Avon Central School, and then I would go to the farm. That would mean that I would have to occasionally bring my work clothes along with my student teaching clothes and I would change in the school bathrooms. So, I would get out and go in my suit and button-up shirt … go in, come out, and I’d pull out these big bright blue overalls and working hat and boots, and I’d walk in and I’d change. This one time when I was changing in there, the principal of the school came knocking because I was changing in the staff bathroom. I had to explain to him why a hick had wandered into his school and was wandering around in the school bathroom.”
