Geneseo track and field has been taking advantage of the recent warmer weather  and used it as a springboard into a weekend of success, with athletes competing at Princeton University and SUNY Cortland. 

The Geneseo track and field team split squads this past weekend and sent contingents to Pennsylvania for one invitational at Bucknell University and another at Westminster University. Both brought success for the athletes, who were finally able to benefit from good weather and healthy competition. 

Head track and field coach and assistant cross country coach Chris Popovici was a multi-sport athlete before coming to Geneseo, where he transitioned to running cross country and track and field full time. Growing up in Pittsford, N.Y., he played basketball and cross-country skied in addition to running.

The Geneseo men’s and women’s track and field teams capped off a tremendously successful indoor season with impressive performances at the NCAA Division III Championships held in Birmingham, Al. on March 9 and March 10. 

The Geneseo men’s and women’s track and field teams absolutely dominated at the SUNYAC Championships on Friday Feb. 23 and Saturday Feb. 24. Not only did both teams win the meet, but they also put up higher point totals than expected.

The Geneseo men’s and women’s track and field teams are buzzing with excitement for the upcoming SUNYAC Championship, to be held on Friday Feb. 23 and Saturday Feb. 24 at SUNY Brockport. 

The Geneseo men’s and women’s track teams had another successful showing this past weekend on Friday Feb. 9 and Saturday Feb. 10 at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational held at Boston University. 

 and field teams competed at the Ithaca Winter Invitational at Ithaca College on Saturday Feb. 3. On the same date, a small number of athletes went to Tufts University in Massachusetts to compete in the Tufts Early Season Invitational. 

Geneseo men’s and women’s track and field teams split squads and the college sent contingencies to SUNY Brockport and Cornell University on Saturday Jan. 27. Each went to compete and take advantage of the different resources and facilities each school had to offer. The teams were pleased with the results from both meets.

The Geneseo track and field season has officially begun after a small group of athletes traveled to SUNY Brockport to compete in an early season invitational on Friday Dec. 1 and Saturday Dec. 2. 

Geneseo men’s and women’s cross country teams each had an incredibly impressive showing at the NCAA Division III Championships. The meet was hosted by Principia College in Elsah, Ill., and it further propelled the team’s legacy.

With almost 100 members, Geneseo women’s club volleyball program is one of the largest club organizations on-campus and has grown exponentially since its conception two years ago, when it had approximately 10 members.

The Geneseo women’s club rugby team, known as the Lady Warthogs, enjoys both athletic progress and a tight-knit connected team culture. The group exhibits copious amounts of devotion and a winning attitude.

Despite a strong season, the Geneseo volleyball team tumbled to SUNY Fredonia in the semifinals of the SUNYAC Tournament. 

The Geneseo field hockey team has maintained a successful season thus far—with an overall record of 10-6, including a seven game winning streak. 

Junior defender Rachel Walsh is an essential part of the Geneseo women’s soccer team. Walsh contributes to defensive success on the field, while also devoting her time to helping the community as a member of Geneseo First Response.

Geneseo’s volleyball team has consistently won their matches this season thus far, and the team is looking forward to a competitive end of the season and postseason.
