The Geneseo Village Board of Trustees’ March 20 elections determined that democrats Ben Gajewski and Bob Wilcox will take over two trustee seats in the coming term. Gajewski and Wilcox beat out republican incumbents Thomas LaGrou and John Fox. Gajewski is an alumnus of Geneseo and currently serves as stewardship director of the Genesee

Michael Parkin, associate professor of politics at Oberlin College, gave a lecture on March 21 about politicians’ interviews, titled “More Than Entertainment: Candidate Appearances on Late Night Talk Shows.”

This year’s spring concert featuring Kid Cudi is showing strong ticket sales, with the majority of tickets from the Student Association Ticket Office sold to Geneseo students.

Held on Wednesday Feb. 29, the Leadership with Purpose: 2012 Women in Leadership Conference consisted of seven workshops and a dinner focused on facilitating women to become leaders.

A new law geared toward high school athletics was recently signed by Governor Andrew Cuomo and will be initiated on July 1, 2012. The law will set up new regulations regarding head injuries sustained while participating in school athletics.

Since Congress passed the Affordable Care Act in March 2010, new regulations and standards have been initiated in the health insurance industry which affect 18-24 year olds.

This semester, both students and professors have expressed increasing disappointment in the Geneseo University Bookstore, which is operated by the Follett Corporation. Many were frustrated to find that when students tried to purchase and pick up the books they needed, many of them were not yet available.
