On Saturday April 20, the Geneseo Knights men’s lacrosse team was in Oswego to take on the Lakers. The Knights sat in fourth place in the SUNYAC standings, looking up at the Lakers, who were in third.

The Geneseo men’s lacrosse team sought back-to-back SUNYAC wins on April 10 against SUNY Cortland. The Red Dragons came into the game undefeated in the conference and sitting proudly in first place. Geneseo was coming off an exciting overtime win against SUNY Oneonta and a win against Cortland would certainly send a message around the conference.

The Geneseo men’s lacrosse team entered their second conference game of the season with a 3-8 record, 0-1 in conference play on Saturday April 6. The Knights were experiencing a tough string of games as of late, resulting in a four-game losing streak.

Prior to beginning SUNYAC play against SUNY Plattsburgh, Geneseo had a tough test against the Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers, a team ranked third in the nation as of March 27. Even though Geneseo ended up losing the game 14-5, the Knights held the Tigers three goals under their season average of 17 goals per game.

The road to the NCAA Division III men’s ice hockey semifinals was long in more ways than one. While Geneseo didn’t take any roads at all en route to Wisconsin for their semifinal game against the Norwich University Cadets from Vermont, it was every game played, every goal scored and every mile traveled leading up to it that put them in this illustrious position.

The collapse of the Pittsburgh Steelers is in full swing. Contract negations, off-field disrespect and player feuds drove 30-year old wide receiver Antonio Brown and 27-year-old running back Le’Veon Bell out of Pittsburgh. The two players combined for 109 touchdowns and 16,543 yards for Pittsburgh over the past nine NFL seasons. Across the country in California, the Oakland Raiders head coach Jon Gruden appears to be reaping the benefits.

All four of these headline grabs culminated on Saturday Dec. 1, but they all began with a win against SUNY Cortland on Friday Nov. 30.

The Geneseo Knights were in Plattsburgh on Friday Nov. 9 as they tried to right the ship after a 4-4 tie against Buffalo State the weekend before. The Knights have not gone longer than one game without a win since late November of last season when they lost to Elmira College and tied with SUNY Oswego in back-to-back games.
