Bills at Dolphins
In this game between division rivals, the Bills look to continue where they left off in their 23-14 win over San Diego. Trent Edwards' return as quarterback reestablished the Bills as legitimate playoff contenders. The Buffalo defense will need to focus on containing the always dangerous Ronnie Brown, who rushed for a team record of four touchdowns, threw for another against the Patriots in week three and proved to be an imminent threat on offense. The Bills will pressure quarterback Chad Pennington throughout the game as the defense steps it up against a Dolphins offense that lacks experience and depth.
The Pick: Buffalo
Chiefs at Jets
The Jets look to improve to 4-3 behind the guidance of veteran Brett Favre, who will attempt to rebound from a poor showing against the Raiders in week seven. Favre has been inconsistent, turning in a career performance against the Cardinals earlier in the season, while struggling against some of the NFL's weaker defenses. Favre, his receiver duo of Laveranues Coles and Jerricho Cotchery, and running back Thomas Jones should overpower the lackluster Chiefs defense, although the Chiefs and Larry Johnson will do all they can to avoid a 1-6 start.
The Pick: New York
Giants at Steelers
After the first five weeks of the season, the Giants appeared to be the best team in the NFL. A week six disaster against the Cleveland Browns, however, left Eli Manning and the Giants looking vulnerable. Playing against a Steelers team with the first ranked pass defense and second ranked run defense in the league, the Giants will likely turn to a conservative offensive attack. If the Steelers defense keeps pressure on Manning while containing the running game, expect a game full of problems for the Giants. Meanwhile, look for the Steelers and Ben Roethlisberger to use a similar conservative approach that has worked through the first seven weeks.
The Pick: Pittsburgh
Falcons at Eagles
Rookie quarterback Matt Ryan has shown great promise leading an improved Falcons offense that also boasts running back Michael Turner. Previously a career backup, Turner has proven thus far that he can handle the starting job - he has the third-most rushing yards in the league. Look for the Falcons' smash-mouth running attack to eat away at the Eagles' defense. One wild card for this game: Eagles running back Brian Westbrook could see limited time coming back from an injury that left him with two fractured ribs.
The Pick: Atlanta
