The World of Online Dating

In today’s technological day and age, it should be no surprise that the dating world has made its mark in the world of technology as well.

With how fast-paced everything is, including flings and hookups, it’s hard to know what dating app would work best for you. There are so many out there that it can be difficult to navigate.

The similarities and differences of two popular dating apps, Tinder and Bumble, are reviewed right here so you can understand the important distinctions between the two and can make a decision on what you think may be right for you.

Tinder has been around for a while and is probably best known for quick hookups. Is this all that it offers? “Tinder empowers users around the world to create new connections that otherwise might never have been possible,” according to the Tinder website.

Tinder uses your location to set you up with other single people in your area. Singles upload pictures of themselves, as well as a bio, and then begin swiping on other people—if two people swipe right on each other, they are matched. Conversations with someone through the app are not possible unless you match.

Tinder is one of the most popular dating apps, and Bumble is one of its top competitors, according to Expanded Ramblings. According to the Tinder website, the app has 2 billion views per day. If you want to be able to meet more people, then Tinder may be the app for you.

Bumble, however, offers some key differences from Tinder. With Bumble, women must make the first move. The Bumble website says that

“Bumble was first founded to challenge the antiquated rules of dating … We’ve made it not only necessary but acceptable for women to make the first move, shaking up outdated gender norms.”

According to The News Region, Bumble is for more than just dating as it tends to have more educated users. Because of this, Bumble prides itself on the potential to expand career opportunities through its platform.

If one is looking for more than just dating, then Bumble may be the right choice. Bumble also does not have a limit on the number of swipes that can be used, whereas Tinder does unless a premium, monthly price is paid.

The only real way to know which dating app is for you is to try them both. Both apps have pros and cons depending on what you are looking for.

College life is busy and having a dating life can be hard. These apps are here to help and are free for your use. Make sure to have fun and try to enjoy meeting new people with technology that was not offered before.
