We have been dealing with COVID-19 since mid-March, and it is unfortunately not showing any signs of slowing down. Another lockdown may come in the soon-approaching holiday season, which presents different issues for different people. People in relationships, specifically, may encounter challenges as they may live with their significant other and will have to spend more time with them or will have to take time apart from their significant other for a period of time if they live separately.

This year has not gone according to plan. With COVID-19 hitting, many events have been postponed or canceled, stores have closed either permanently or temporarily and people have been advised to stay indoors to stop the spread of the virus.

From attending high school baseball games to going to college hockey games to watching the Super Bowl with a group of friends, sports bring students and communities together even if they cannot be physically together, such as now due to COVID-19. English major and sports editor for The Lamron student newspaper junior Nicholas Widman is someone who informs the campus community about all sports updates—from school sports to the national leagues.

Once students graduate from college and receive their diplomas, they choose whether they would like to attend graduate school, get a job or pursue other routes. Regardless, it is crucial that students establish connections with current Geneseo students as well as alumni. The Undergraduate Alumni Association at Geneseo helps students establish their job networks, find job references and offer guidance to students.

2020 has, thus far, been a year consisting of civil unrest all over the world, especially in the United States after the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Daniel Prude and many other Black individuals.

It goes without saying that 2020 was not the year anyone expected. College students have been affected by this pandemic both academically and socially.
