The Geneseo men’s lacrosse team lost its season opener to St. John Fisher College on Tuesday Feb. 19. This is coming off of last year’s late-season success when the team went 6-1 down the stretch – with all of those games featuring SUNYAC opponents.

Tiger Woods’ win in the Farmers Insurance Open on Jan. 28 was the 75th of his career and the eighth at Torrey Pines. The latter is just one reason why this win will not be an indicator of future success this season for Woods.

As Super Bowl XLVII approaches, quarterback Colin Kaepernick and the San Francisco 49ers only care about securing a win. Due to their superior skills in almost every facet of the game, it is difficult to expect anything less than a championship.

The Geneseo field hockey team is 10-1 in its last 11 games and is now on another five-game winning streak that continued with wins over SUNY Oswego and SUNY Cortland.

After dropping a game to SUNY New Paltz on Friday Oct. 5, the Geneseo field hockey team battled with SUNY Oneonta the following day.

The Geneseo women’s field hockey team lost its second game of the season on Sept. 7 to rival University of Rochester, 4-1. The loss puts the Knights at 1-2 for the season; however, they have not played against a conference opponent yet.

On Saturday April 21 the Knights hosted the Geneseo Open, their annual non-scoring meet, with participants including Alfred University, SUNY Oswego, St. Bonaventure University and the University of Buffalo.

The Geneseo women’s tennis team traveled to New York City and split its two matches on April 14 and 15.

The Geneseo women’s lacrosse team is now 3-1 on the season after splitting their two games following spring break.

The Geneseo men's basketball season concluded on Saturday Feb. 25 with a SUNYAC tournament semifinal loss to SUNY Cortland, 68-59.

The Geneseo men's basketball team defeated SUNY Fredonia 60-49 on Tuesday Feb. 21 to advance to the semifinals of the SUNYAC tournament. 

He's the talk of not only the basketball world, but the sports world as a whole. He averaged 27 points and nine assists in his last six games. He is producing more highlights this month than LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. And the best part is he's playing at Madison Square Garden.

For fans of the New York Jets this Sunday's Super Bowl match-up between the New England Patriots and New York Giants is really a no-win situation. Yet, as sports fans, we're contractually obligated to watch the big game. We will end up rooting for one side, no matter how much it makes us cringe. For me, it's not even close as to whom I'm rooting for: It has to be the Giants. 

Before winter break, the men's basketball team was reeling with a 2-7 overall record. Since returning to Geneseo on Jan. 2, however, the Knights have gone 6-2, including 5-2 in conference.

After losing its last two games by close margins, the Geneseo men's basketball team has started the season 0-3.

The Geneseo men's basketball team opens the 2011-12 season on Nov. 15 against Medaille College. After a disappointing 11-14 (5-13) record in the 2010-11 season, head coach Steve Minton is looking forward to starting anew, after only graduating two seniors and bringing in a talented freshman crop.

The Geneseo field hockey team rounded out their regular season, finishing the week 1-1. The team already locked up the No. 4-seed in the SUNYAC playoffs and a matchup against No. 1 SUNY Cortland.

The Geneseo field hockey team came away from a three-game road trip last week with a 2-1 record, which was enough to secure the fourth seed in the playoffs and a matchup with heated rival SUNY Cortland in the first round of the SUNYAC playoffs on Nov. 4.

On Oct. 4, NBA league executives and player representatives met in Manhattan as a last chance to salvage a complete NBA season.
