In an email sent to faculty and staff on Sept. 23, President Denise Battles announced that Gail Glover, chief communications and marketing officer, will be leaving the college at the semester’s conclusion to join the administrative leadership at Bucknell University.

In April 2019, a series of Snapchats were posted to a Geneseo student’s Snapchat story of a pair of students in charcoal face masks with the caption “blackface and sunsets with my bae.” This sparked activism for students of color throughout the campus, with activist organizations still pushing for change this semester. One of these organizations, Fighting Against Racial Injustice is hosting a documentary series discussing whether or not the racial climate at Geneseo has changed in the past decade.

President Denise Battles hosted the biannual College/Community Breakfast Meeting at the Big Tree Inn on Sept. 5. The meeting serves as a communication tool between the college and the town of Geneseo, providing town residents with relevant updates and announcements from the school. More than 50 people attended, including local business owners and members of the pPresident’s cabinet.

On Oct. 4 2014, a female student reported to the college that she felt herself to be the victim of what Livingston County District Attorney Greg McCaffrey describes as a “brutal, forcible sexual and physical assault” perpetrated by another student in a campus residence hall. The college did not notify any local law enforcement agencies and criminal charges were not pursued.
